Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham has welcomed back eight major artworks by van Dyck, Mytens and Reynolds, which once hung at the mansion.

From a private collection

Unlike many exhibitions featuring Old Masters, this one is child-friendly!

Staged to celebrate Rotherham’s status as the world’s first Children’s Capital of Culture this year, the House of Fun: Parties, Play and Portraits exhibition is a chance for children to learn about art and the intriguing life stories of the people in the frames.

Local children have written their interpretations of the paintings and others were involved in creating contemporary art which sits alongside the classics.

Rother Radio visited Wentworth Woodhouse to speak to staff and some of the children attendees about this new attraction which you can listen to above.
