Tudor Players present Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett, adapted by Stephen Briggs

Sheffield Library Theatre – 14th to 18th October 2025
6.45pm doors, 7.15pm curtain – Tickets £13 (£12 concessions)

  • Tudor Players return to the Sheffield Library Theatre in October with their first Terry Pratchett production, a stage adaptation of the sixth book in Pratchett’s Discworld series, Wyrd Sisters. Performances run from 14th – 18th October, 2025
  • This production will raise funds for Ashgate Hospice in memory of long-standing and much-missed Tudor Players actor and director Rod Duncan, who died in 2024.
  • This follows the success of Tudor Players’ summer production which explored the history of women’s football – The Invincibles by Amanda Whittington – tying in nicely with the Lionesses recent victory in the Euros! Tudor also saw packed houses for their recent adaptations of TV favourites Keeping Up Appearances in February and Blackadder II in October 2024

Terry Pratchett takes Shakespeare’s Macbeth and then turns it up ’till the knob comes off. It’s all there – a wicked duke and duchess, the ghost of the murdered king, dim soldiers, strolling players, a land in peril. And who stands between the Kingdom and destruction? Three witches. Granny Weatherwax (intolerant, self-opinionated, powerful), Nanny Ogg (down-to-earth, vulgar) and Magrat Garlick (naïve, fond of occult jewellery and bunnies). This Stephen Briggs adaptation of Pratchett’s Discworld novel was written to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original book, and promises to be an enjoyable night at the theatre whether you are a diehard Pratchett fan or new to his stories. Pratchett’s comic adventures of Discworld have won over generations of readers with intelligence, heart, and undeniable wit. His books have sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and have been translated into 43 languages.

Director John Moran said: “Terry Pratchett is one of the finest British authors of the 20th century, and the Discworld series of 41 comic fantasy novels is among his best-known work. This adaptation by Stephen Briggs is very accessible to audiences who may not be familiar with the novel, but will also appeal to the numerous fans of Pratchett’s work. Those fans include many Tudor members who are cast in the production, and they have greatly enjoyed working to portray the larger than life characters and hilarious plots created by Pratchett. The large cast includes many familiar Tudor Players faces alongside some talented newcomers.”

With strong interest in Terry Pratchett’s work, Tudor Players expect high demand for tickets for this production, so early ticket purchases are recommended. Group discounts are available for bookings of more than 10 tickets.
