This February, Weston Park Cancer Charity is hosting its first ever Make a Will Month.

Throughout the month, supporters will be able to get expert help with writing their Will with one of the charity’s legal partners.

Participating solicitors are waiving their usual fees and asking instead for a donation to be made to Weston Park Cancer Charity.

By taking part, supporters can get their affairs in order for a reduced cost, while making an invaluable contribution to the charity’s work.

How can I take part in Make a Will Month?

Supporters can write their Will with Best Solicitors, BRM, Ison Harrison Solicitors, and Taylor Bracewell Solicitors.

These solicitors are based in locations throughout the region and are on hand to make the Will-writing process as easy and quick as possible.

Suggested minimum donations start at:

  • £100 for a simple single Will (for one person)
  • £190 for a simple mirror Will (for a couple)

These suggested minimum donations are lower than the average cost of writing a Will, with savings of up to £200 for a single Will, and every pound given will help us to support local people and families facing cancer.

The suggested minimum donation for a single Will for example, would cover the cost of fuel for all three routes on our transport service for two days – helping around 120 patients to access vital cancer treatment and appointments.

The amounts listed above are for simple Wills. Participants can make more complex Wills if they wish, and additional costs can be discussed directly with chosen solicitors.

Melissa Erwin, Legacy & In Memory Fundraising Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity said: “Writing a Will can feel like an intimidating task, but it doesn’t have to be.

“During Make a Will Month, our legal partners can support you through every step of the Will-writing process, making it easier than ever to organise your financial affairs.

“They’ll help you to complete this important document, ensuring that your wishes are honoured and those closest to you are cared for in the future.

“Every Will written during Make a Will month will help us to provide the very best care to people going through cancer treatment – now, and in the years to come.”

Those taking part in Weston Park Cancer Charity’s Make a Will month also have the option of a leaving a gift to the charity in their Will – although there is no obligation to do so. These gifts help the charity to provide practical, emotional, and financial assistance to people when they need it most.

There will be a limited number of Will-writing sessions available during Weston Park Cancer Charity’s Make a Will Month.
