Rother Radio – Special Announcement Love Local, Love Music!
A Rotherham-based charity is helping young people overcome barriers to education and employment thanks to grant funding.
Clifton Learning Partnership has received £15,000 over three years from Quickline’s Moving On Up Fund, delivered in partnership with South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF).
The Moving On Up Fund, generously supported by Quickline, helps SYCF back local organisations working to improve employability skills and future prospects for people aged 30 and under across South Yorkshire.
Clifton Learning Partnership works to tackle issues such as vulnerability, exploitation, unemployment, poverty and inequality, supporting children, young people and families to build brighter futures.
Through the funding, the charity is supporting individuals to overcome practical barriers by helping them create CVs, prepare for exams and apply for future opportunities. The team has also been working with young people in a Pupil Referral Unit, helping to boost their confidence, motivation and aspirations for education and employment.
Helen Littlewood from Clifton Learning Partnership said: “The Moving On Up funding has enabled us to develop and deliver work that we’ve long known needed addressing. Having three years of funding means we can really learn what works, build on it and embed the support for the long term.”
Quickline is an award-winning rural broadband provider that also invests heavily in community support and social value across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Elisabeth Kamaris, Social Values Executive at Quickline, said: “Clifton Learning Partnership does incredible work supporting the local community, families, asylum seekers and refugees. We’re proud to work alongside SYCF to support this three-year project, which focuses on raising aspirations for young people through partnerships with local schools, Family Hubs and Early Help services.”
South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation is the region’s largest grant-giving charity. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Foundation has awarded more than £40 million to grassroots groups across South Yorkshire over the past four decades.
Jess O’Neill, grants and partnerships manager for SYCF, said: “We’re delighted to support this project through the Moving On Up Fund in partnership with Quickline, helping to ensure young people in the Eastwood area of Rotherham have the opportunities they deserve.”
