Support Dogs UK held a special showcase event to unveil plans for creating a new National Centre & Community Heartspace for their life-changing work .

Founded in Sheffield over 30 years ago, Support Dogs’ work is life-saving and life-changing.
Its vital services also save the NHS over £35 million a year.

However the level of demand for the services is unacceptable. Over 29,000 families and individuals accessed the application pages for it’s services in 2024 and the potential demand far exceeds this.

Support Dogs UK say that they need to grow and help more people. One of the biggest barriers for them doing this has been the capacity of their existing building. In Autumn 2024, Support Dogs UK purchased a warehouse with capacity 4 times that of it’s existing site in Brightside, offering the potential to not only increase the reach of the work but also the range of services in which it offers.

This year Support Dogs UK has launched a capital appeal to renovate it’s new warehouse into a new national centre, allowing them to make the huge step change that is needed.

Support Dogs UK has launched an appeal to raise money to help fun the renovation of it’s new building and the creating of it’s specialist client areas for those affected by epilepsy, autism and disabilities including a puppy training arena, a sensory enrichment area and a simulated city training space.

Wayne Cubitt and Josh Wilkinson attended the Support Dogs UK Showcase at the new site in Hillsborough and had the chance to speak with staff and clients.
