A fourth person has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after the New Year’s Day killing of Fatjon Oruci in Rotherham.

Fatjon, who was from London, was found dead in Doncaster Road in the early hours of Saturday, January 1 this year.

The 22-year-old had died as a result of “catastrophic injuries” sustained in a beating, a post-mortem examination found. He had also been stabbed.

On the day that Fatjon’s body was found, a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The pair had fled “back to London” before being arrested, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

On Tuesday, January 4, 2022 a 23-year-old man from Rotherham was also arrested on suspicion of murder.

All three have since been released and are no longer being treated as suspects in this investigation.

But officers have now made a fourth arrest as part of their enquiries.

The 33-year-old Rotherham man has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
