Andrew Gosden disappearance and arrests: What happened to Doncaster teenager who vanished in 2007

South Yorkshire Police have arrested two men over the disappearance of 14-year-old Andrew Gosden from Doncaster 14 years after he suddenly disappeared.

The two men, aged 45 and 38, were arrested in December on suspicion of kidnap and human trafficking and one was also questioned over the possession of indecent images of children.

Andrew left his home in Doncaster on Friday, September 14, 2007, and has not been seen by his family since.

The teenager, who would be 28 now, left his home for school but was last seen at Kings Cross Station in London on the day of his disappearance. He never returned.

He had withdrawn £200 and bought a one-way ticket to the capital. He also took his wallet, keys and a Playstation Portable console.

He was regarded as a gifted student who was almost certainly destined for Cambridge University.

Here’s everything we know about Andrew Gosden’s disappearance:

  • Andrew Gosden, who was 14 when he disappeared, left his home on Littlemoor Lane in Balby, Doncaster on Friday, September 14, 2007.
  • He left for school, but took £200 out of his bank account and boarded a one-way train from from Doncaster to London.
  • He arrived at 11.20am and was last seen on CCTV at Kings Cross station in the capital on the day of his disappearance.
  • Since then, no information about his movements has been corroborated by police.
  • In 2019 two images were developed to show what Andrew could look like now as he would be in his late 20s.
  • Appeals to help find Andrew continued and Andrew’s parents have appeared on shows such as Crimewatch and also spoke to YorkshireLive to appeal to people to help find him.

  • A breakthrough was made on December 8 2021 when South Yorkshire Police, assisted by Metropolitan Police, arrested two men over Andrew’s disappearance.
  • A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, human trafficking and the possession of indecent images of children, and a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and human trafficking.

  • Both men have now been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
  • South Yorkshire Police announced the news of the two men being arrested publicly today (Tuesday).
