Girls aged 2 and 3 injured after car lost control on bend in Barnsley

Two little girls are among those injured when a car lost control on a bend and crashed in Barnsley.

South Yorkshire Police were called to the serious accident on Billingley Lane at 3.50pm yesterday, November 23, after reports of a single car crash.

Police say that it is understood the driver of a grey Skoda Fabia lost control of the car on a bend and crashed.

The two-year-old girl suffered injuries to her face and skull.

The car’s driver and two other passengers, aged 72 and 3, were also injured.

The 72-year-old woman remains in hospital with spine and head injuries.

The three-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

A 25-year-old woman who was driving the car suffered injuries to her pelvis and ankle.

South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for information to anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dash cam footage.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Roads Policing Officers are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a collision in Barnsley.

“Yesterday (Tuesday 23 November) at 3:50pm officers responded to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Billingley Lane.

“It is believed that the driver of a grey Skoda Fabia lost control of their vehicle on a bend.

“The driver of the car, a 25 year-old woman, suffered injuries to her pelvis and ankle. Her passengers, a 72 year-old woman, and two girls aged three and two were also injured.

“The 72 year-old woman remains in hospital with spine and head injuries. The two-year-old girl suffered injuries to her face and skull, and the three-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

“Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the car prior to the collision, or who may have dash cam footage of the car.”
