Man on mobility scooter hit by car in accident hot spot in Bawtry Road, Doncaster

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Doncaster.

The man, who was using a mobility scooter, was hit by a car in Bawtry Road, Doncaster, shortly after 10am today.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed the man was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary to be checked over.

They said: “We received an emergency call at 10.06am, to reports of a male on a mobility scooter that had been in a collision with a car.

“We dispatched one ambulance and the patient was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary to be checked over.”

This is the third accident involving a car to have happened in Bawtry Road in just two days.

Yesterday, November 16, a cyclist was taken to hospital after being hit by a car at around 2pm, on the junction with Cantley Lane.

The previous day, November 15, another cyclist – a man in his 30s – was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after being hit by a car, in the same spot at the junction with Cantley Lane.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police continue to appeal for information about the circumstances leading to the crash on November 15.

A/PS Martyn Micklethwaite of the force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “We need to paint as clear a picture as we can about what happened in the run-up to the collision.

“If anyone was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened, or has dash cam footage which saw the incident, we’d love to hear from you.”

Anyone with information about Monday’s crash is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 640 of 15 November.
