A family-run bistro has been voted as one of the best eateries in Sheffield according to Tripadvisor.

Reviewers could not stop gushing over the “exceptionally delicious” food served at Turnip & Thyme in Ecclesall Road.

It is no wonder then, that the restaurant, which is run by siblings Robert and Louise Moore, has been ranked 2nd out of 1,149 restaurants in the city.

Turnip & Thyme serves British favourites and comfort food classics such as pork belly, lamb rump and wild mushroom risotto made from seasonal ingredients that have been sourced locally.

Since it opened in September 2019, Turnip & Thyme has acquired a loyal customer base which is joined by more and more people every day.

Recent visitors praised the incredibly friendly service, the good quality food, reasonable prices and pleasant atmosphere.

One TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: “Really enjoyed our first family visit to Turnip & Thyme for Sunday lunch.

“Everything freshly cooked and the lamb rump, chicken supreme and sea bass were all perfectly cooked and promptly served.”

They added: “The crumble dessert was a particular favourite. The staff are friendly and attentive.”

Another customer was also especially impressed by the crumble.

Their review said: “Had Sunday lunch from this amazing place on the 19th it was fab. We opted for takeaway to eat in our hotel room.

“We shared the ham hock terrine to start which was soooooo good. Hubby had the lamb roast and I had the pork, everything about both meals was fab. The quantity and quality was outstanding.

“Finished off with theeeee nicest crumble I’ve ever eaten!!!!”

And a third customer said he is already planning his next visit after eating there a few weeks ago.

He said: “Visited Turnip & Thyme following the reviews on TripAdvisor and after having a fantastic three course meal for both myself and my wife it definitely deserves its 5 star rating.

“Each dish was beautifully presented and it was clear from the amazing flavours that a lot of pride goes into the preparation of the dishes – the lamb rump was simply superb.”

He added: “Brilliant service from the moment we walked into the restaurant made our first visit a night to remember and we are already planning our next visit soon.”

Another customer said he started ordering from Turnip & Thyme during the Covid-19 lockdown and said the Sunday roast was “exceptionally delicious”.

“We ordered the Sunday roast option and it was delivered promptly and still piping hot,” he wrote.

“We didn’t have high expectations about a delivery meal but we were amazed at the quality and it was so tasty. We were so impressed that we have ordered from them regularly since then and always look forward to this lovely treat at home.”

It was Thursday night and Alok Sharma, the president of COP26, was on stage at the Kelvingrove Gallery in Glasgow in front of the chief negotiators introducing a special guest. At the moment the chief negotiators are of course busy people so he wouldn't have wanted to waste their time with just any speaker. The man he'd invited to give the assembled group one final pep talk was the Prince of Wales. With a sprinkling of royal modesty, he stressed how […]
