Police searching for man after woman raped in Sheffield city centre

Police have released the image of man they would like to speak to after a woman was raped in Sheffield.

The victim was attacked by a stranger in the city centre in the early hours of June 17.

The woman, who is in her 20s, is being supported by specialist officers.

South Yorkshire Police said that extensive enquiries have been carried since the attack and officers now want to speak to the man who was capture on CCTV as he may hold information that could help with the investigation.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Police in Sheffield have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection to a sexual assault in the city centre.

“It is reported that between 1.30am and 1.50am on June 17, a woman in her 20s was raped by an unknown male.

“If you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 83 of June 17.”
