Tributes to Joe Sarpong, 18, as Doncaster ‘murder’ victim found dead in street is named

People in Doncaster are paying tribute after police tragically discovered a teenager’s body yesterday.

South Yorkshire Police found the body of an 18-year-old man on a wasteland near College Road in Doncaster yesterday morning.

The police investigation is ongoing, and there have not yet been any new updates since yesterday.

However, locals have named the 18-year-old as Joe Sarpong and have been paying tribute on social media.

One person wrote: “Rest in paradise Joe Sarpong one of the most kindest people I have ever met in my life you were genuinely respected by so many such a top guy.”

Another Doncaster resident wrote: “Rest easy Joe Sarpong. thoughts are will you all.”

Forensic investigation continued yesterday with at least five police vehicles on the scene and a cordon in place around Catherine Street.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Police are in attendance at College Road, Doncaster, after the body of an 18-year-old man was found on wasteland this morning.

Superintendent Neil Thomas added: “We would urge members of the public to stay away from the area while officers continue their work.”
