An inquest has opened into the deaths of a Yorkshire mum and two children who tragically died in a horror crash on the A64 near Harton.

Shirley Hunt, 44, and her children Ellie, 9, and Oscar, 5, were pronounced dead at the scene after their motorhome collided with a HGV on August 24.

Mrs Hunt’s partner Craig, and six-year-old son Brooklyn, survived the crash, but found their Rotherham home had been burgled after being discharged from hospital.

An inquest at Northallerton’s Coroner’s Court heard today, October 29, that Mrs Hunt and her children were passengers in the motorhome and died at the scene as a result of their injuries.

Assistant coroner Oliver Longstaff adjourned all three inquests to be resumed and concluded on a later date.

Last month, North Yorkshire Police ‘s Sergeant Paul Cording set up a fundraising page to help the family rebuild their lives following the cruel burglary.

More than £21,000 were raised for the Rockingham Junior and Infant School pupil and his dad.
