Yorkshire mum and her two children, 5 and 9, named after being killed in horror crash

Two children and mum who were killed in a collision on August 24 have been named.

Ellie Hunt, nine, and Oscar Hunt, five, who were pupils at Rockingham Junior and Infant School in Wingfield, sadly died following the accident.

Their mother Shirley Anne Hunt, 44, also died in the collision on the A64 near Flaxton in North Yorkshire.

All three were laid to rest in a funeral service yesterday.

The road was closed between Barton-le-Willows and Flaxton for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.

It reopened at 6.45am August 25, seeing the road closed for more than 10 hours.

The accident happened at around 8pm near Jinnah Restaurant at Flaxton, Ryedale, and involved a white HGV and a grey motorhome.

The children’s father and six-year-old brother survived the crash.

The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

The dad and son, who survived the horror crash later came home from hospital to find thieves had ransacked their home, the thieves not only took valuables such as a TV and Xbox but also treasured family items that can never be replaced.

Officers at North Yorkshire Police have now set up a fundraising page to help the family rebuild their lives.
