Live as Penistone Road Sheffield ‘part blocked’ due to crash

Penistone Road in Sheffield is partially blocked due to an accident.

The road is currently blocked in both directions due to the crash and Google Maps is showing a small area of slow moving traffic.

Traffic management system, Inrix, has this: “A61 PENISTONE ROAD – HIGH GREEN – BOTH DIRECTIONS – SOUTH YORKSHIRE

“A61 Penistone Road in both directions partially blocked due to accident at A629.”

It is not yet clear how many vehicles have been involved in the crash or if anyone has been injured, but YorkshireLive have contacted South Yorkshire Police for more information.

Motorists have taken to social media to warn others of the traffic, with one local posting: “Does anyone know what’s happened on Penistone Road near the Jet Garage on the way to Tankersley?

“Stand still traffic everyone’s turning around”.

Comments suggest that a horse box has been involved in the crash, but this has not been confirmed.

South Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
