Police investigating the vandalism of a mural depicting England footballer Marcus Rashford have issued CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to.

The mural in Withington, Manchester, was covered in graffiti after the striker missed a penalty in the Euro 2020 final, where England lost to Italy.

The word “f***” was scrawled over the artwork in Copson Street along with the words “s***” and “b******” written alongside the word “Sancho”.

Rashford and his teammates, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho, who all missed penalties, were targeted with racist abuse online after the match on 11 July.

The mural was later covered with messages of support from members of the public and artist Akse P19 repainted his monochrome image of the Manchester United player.

Greater Manchester Police have not made any arrests in relation to the vandalism and have now released the CCTV footage from that evening.

It shows a man with his hood up, near the sidewall of the Coffee House Cafe. He can be seen looking in different directions before he walks away and comes back into view.
