Live as armed police descend on Sheffield street

Armed police have descended on a quiet Sheffield suburb this evening, October 11.

Pictures show officers at the scene in Valley Road, Meersbrook, with a number of police cars parked along the street.

People are advised to avoid the area.

The nature of the incident is currently not known but South Yorkshire Police have been approached for more information.

This appears to be the second serious incident police are responding to in Sheffield this evening.

Officers are currently also at the scene of an incident at the Park Hill Flats.
