Tragedy as taxi passenger dies four days on from horror M18 crash near Doncaster

A taxi passenger has died after suffering horrific injuries during a four-vehicle motorway crash.

Police were called shortly after 2pm to reports of a crash on the M18 at Doncaster between Junctions 4 and 5 on Wednesday, October 6.

A man, who was a rear seat passenger in a taxi, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but has sadly died four days on from the crash.

South Yorkshire Police say his family are being supported by specially trained officers.

One other person, believed to be the taxi driver, was said to have been injured in the crash and was also taken to hospital for treatment.

The officer leading the investigation for South Yorkshire Police’s Serious Collisions Unit said: “This was a bad collision which has tragically resulted in somebody losing their life.

“We are trying to paint the complete picture of what happened and enquiries are ongoing. If you have any information, caught the incident on dash cam or were also on the motorway at the time and might have seen what happened, please call us to pass that on.”
