The dad of a badly injured 21-year-old man who was knocked of his bike during a suspected hit and run has called on the driver to hand himself into police.

Bradley Woodward-Day was taken to hospital this morning after he was hit by a car in Radburn Road, in Rossington, shortly after 6am.

His dad said he suffered a small bleed on the brain and broke his femur “clean in half” as he faces up to a whole week in hospital.

Mr Woodward, 44, also took to Facebook to call on the driver of the car to “hold your hands up” and contact the police.

Speaking from hospital, Mr Woodward added that his son suffered cuts to his head during the collision which happened close to the Poachers Pub.

He said: “He set off out the house and had gone to the shops around the corner. A car came from Central Drive at speed and hit him and drove straight off.”

Mr Woodward added that police spoke with his son’s friend who was badly shaken by the ordeal and officers had visited a nearby pub in the hope of getting CCTV footage to help with their investigation.

He said that Bradley has a couple of cuts to his head and is likely to remain in hospital for the next week after breaking his femur “clean in half”.

Thankfully, Mr Woodward said the bleed on the brain does not look as though it requires surgery.

Radburn Road was sealed off by police and it has been shut since this morning.

Mr Woodward said police have spoken with his wife at their home and that there was a broken piece of trim from the car involved in the collision left at the scene.

The car is said to have driven off at speed, leaving a fresh tyre mark on a grass verge at Bond Street.

South Yorkshire Police have been contacted for a statement.
