Locke Park shooting: Teenager and woman arrested in Barnsley after man shot in family park and left to bleed

Detectives investigating a shooting at a park in Barnsley have arrested an 18-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman.

South Yorkshire Police say a man in his 30s was “targeted” at around 2.45pm yesterday at Locke Park and shot at.

He suffered gunshot wounds and was treated by medics but his injuries were not deemed to be serious.

Today (Sunday) police confirmed they arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of a wounding offences and firearms offences and a 45-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting offenders.

Both remain in custody and are being questioned by officers over the shooting.

DCI Nikki Leach said: “We would like to make it clear that this was a targeted attack, and there remains no danger to the public in the surrounding area.

“If anyone saw or heard anything around the time of the incident, no matter how small you think it is, then please get in contact and let us know.”
