Nine Yorkshire women are believed to have died at the hands of men since Sarah Everard’s horrific murder.

All of them much-loved mothers, daughters, sisters and friends before their lives were cruelly ripped away from them.

For many people, these statistics are in no way new, nor are they surprising.

They are a sad reality that we have learned to live with and serve as a reminder of how little has changed over the years.

Women are still not safe walking the streets, be it day or night, and are killed by men who are supposed to protect or love them.

The nine women in Yorkshire are among 81 victims identified across the UK as having been killed in circumstances where the suspect is a man since Sarah Everard’s death.

Their names will not be forgotten.

Samantha Mills tragically died in a house fire in Huddersfield.

The 31-year-old passed away days after an alleged arson attack on a home at Clare Hill on March 23.

The mum from Huddersfield was one of six people to be rushed to hospital following the fire, which is believed to have started at around 6am while a house party was reportedly ongoing at the property.

She as well as 24-year-old Dewsbury man Reece Schofield sadly died in hospital days later.

Craig Collier has been accused of murdering two people and trying to murder four others following the fire.

During a plea and trial preparation hearing, he entered not guilty pleas to all eight charges.

A trial will start on November 16.

Patricia Audsley

Patricia Audsley’s body was discovered at a property in Eastway, Mirfield, on March 25.

Nigel Audsley, 64, of Eastway, Mirfield, has been accused of murdering the 66-year-old.

A trial is scheduled for November 15.

Klaudia Soltys was killed on March 27 in Hull.

Emergency crews found her with fatal injuries inside her home just before 6am.

The 30-year-old had lived in Lambert Street with housemate Amadeusz Sekula, who is accused of murdering her.

A trial is due to take place on November 1 this year.

Miss Soltys’ friend and colleague Petya Yaknov described her as a “ray of sunshine” who “was always smiling”.

Simone Ambler

Halifax-born Simone Ambler died of multiple stab wounds at a property on Dinmore Avenue, Blackpool.

Emergency services were called at around 9.30pm on March 29.

Donald Payne, 62, of Dinmore Avenue, was arrested and charged with murder.

He appeared in court on March 31 and will appear in court again in due course.

Sarah Keith

Sarah Keith was found dead at her flat in Broadway, Horsforth, on Tuesday, April 13.

The vulnerable young mum had her life taken away in an utterly senseless attack by her partner Carl Chadwick.

Her family, who were left absolutely devastated by her murder, describe the 26-year-old as “a kind and loving mother, daughter and sister”.

Chadwick was jailed for a minimum term of 25 years at Leeds Crown Court on August 4 after pleading guilty to murder.

Chenise Gregory

Chenise Gregory is believed to have died at the hands of her partner Michael McGibbon who committed suicide after her death.

Both 29-year-olds were found with stab wounds in a hotel room at the Doubletree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel.

They were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and North Yorkshire Police are treating the two deaths as a murder-suicide.

In a statement her family said: “We’re heartbroken to learn that our beloved Chenise was lured to her death at the hands of her controlling and manipulative ex-boyfriend.”

Fawziyah Javed, from Pudsey, died after falling from Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park on September 2.

Police and emergency services were called at around 9pm, but the 31-year-old sadly died at the scene.

A source told the Daily Record that Ms Javed was thought to have been in the early stages of pregnancy and had celebrated her wedding reception just days before her tragic death.

Kashif Anwar appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on September 6 where he made no plea.

He has been remanded in custody and will reappear in court in due course.

A tribute to Ms Javed said: “Fawziyah, our precious niece taken away from us way too soon. Have so many memories of you as a little girl.

“Will miss you so much. May Allah grant you a special place in Jannat. I hope the angels take care of you until we meet again.”
