What happened outside Forge Valley School in Sheffield as police cordon off Wood Lane

A man has been left injured after thugs knocked him over near to a Sheffield school to steal his motorbike.

South Yorkshire Police were called to Wood Lane in the city at 5.30am today, Friday September 17, to reports that a motorcyclist had been knocked off his bike before having it stolen.

The biker has been left with leg injuries.

A large police cordon is in place in Wood Lane between Carlby Road and Woodend Close close to Forge Valley School.

The school is open as normal.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Emergency services were called to Wood Lane, Sheffield at 5.30am this morning (17 September) to reports that a mortorcyclist had been knocked off his bike, before having it stolen.

“The motorcyclist has suffered leg injuries in the incident.

“Enquiries are now underway to identify those involved and locate the man’s bike.”

A large police cordon is still in place with officers from South Yorkshire Police guarding the tape.

Motorists are being diverted away from the scene.

In a message to pupils Forge Valley School said: “Due to the incident outside school today, pupils can only enter the site from the middle entrance.

“Pupils must follow the instructions of staff on duty.

“There is no vehicle access to Wood Lane. Pupils who arrive by car must walk up from the bottom of Wood Lane.

“School will be open as normal.”
