Police were involved in a dramatic police chase through the streets of Sheffield this morning after a car careered off and didn’t stop for officers.

South Yorkshire Police’s Operational Support unit were out on patrol in the Parson Cross area of the city this morning, Tuesday September 14, when they spotted a suspicious Vauxhall Astra.

Officers said that the car was driving without any lights on, which was the equivalent of wearing a “Look at me” sandwich board.

But the driver didn’t want to stop and talk to officers and a police chase commenced.

But the chase was short lived as the car soon found itself boxed in by other police cars and the victim of a stinger that made the car come to a stop.

The driver will soon be appearing in court for a variety of driving offences.

“Now as you know we are the curious types so thought we would see what the problem was.

“The driver of it however, didnt want to stop and chat and took off.

“As it careered through the streets it found itself surrounded by other traffic cars and a number of dog Handlers, and one expertly hidden stinger.

“The stinger did its job and the driver eventually gave up.

“He will soon be appearing at court, charged with dangerous driving; as well as driving without any insurance and with only his provisional license.”
