Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Bentley shooting

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in Doncaster last week.

A 24-year-old was shot in Bentley at around 11.53pm on August 18.

He was rushed to hospital after police arrived at the scene and found him with gunshot wounds.

Police have confirmed a 25-year-old man from Rotherham has been arrested and is being held in custody.

A statement from South Yorkshire Police reads: “A man has been arrested in connection with a firearms incident in Doncaster last week.

“The 25-year-old man from Rotherham was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder yesterday (23 August) and remains in police custody at this time.

“Police were called to Bentley Road at around 11.53pm on Wednesday 18 August following reports than a man had been seriously injured.

“On arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 24-year-old man with injuries consistent with a firearms discharge.

“He was taken to hospital where he remains.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to police quoting incident number 1043 of 18 August.”
