Huge emergency response as man rushed to hospital with neck injuries in Batemoor Road, Sheffield

A man was rushed to hospital with injuries to his neck in Sheffield last night and then arrested for unrelated offences.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police were called to Batemoor Road shortly after 7pm last night (August 22) to reports a man had been injured.

Emergency services attended and found a 24-year-old man with injuries to his neck and he was taken to hospital to be treated for “minor” injuries.

The same man was then later arrested by officers for unrelated offences and remains in custody at this time.

Photographs from the scene show a number of emergency vehicles on the Batemoor estate, including an ambulance and police vehicle.

It is understood the air ambulance also landed at the scene last night.

Crowds of people can be seen gathered around the emergency scene on Batemoor Road and residents have taken to social media to share their well wishes for the injured man, who appears to be known locally.

A spokesperson for the police force said: “Police called at 7.07pm with reports of a man on Batemoor Road with injuries to his neck.

“Emergency services attended and a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries.

“He was arrested a short time later for unrelated offences and remains in custody.”

Police have not confirmed the nature of the original injury or the circumstances leading to the man’s arrest.
