Live updates as police close Sheffield city centre NCP car park with cordon zone

A car park in Sheffield city centre has been closed and a large police presence is in place.

It’s not clear exactly what has happened but South Yorkshire Police have confirmed that they are on the scene at Blonk Street, near the Wicker, and have closed an entire NCP car park.

One witness, André Skeats, has sent pictures of the scene which show officers blocking people from going near the car park and tape around the entrance.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Emergency services are currently on scene at an incident on Blonk Street, Sheffield. There is a large presence.

“The NCP carpark is currently closed. Please avoid the area if you can.

“We will update you with details as soon as we are able to.

“Thank you!”
