Boy, 13, has head stamped on in horrific Sheffield park attack

A 13-year-old boy has been left needing surgery after he was punched and had his head stamped on in a shock assault at a Sheffield park.

Dawn Goodwin’s son was at the park at Woodhouse Mill in Sheffield on his own on Monday, July 19, when he was brutally attacked at around 4pm.

He was just leaving the park when the assault happened, leaving him needing hospital treatment.

Dawn said: “He was at the park at Woodhouse Mill on his own just leaving when a lad came up to him and punched him in the head then continued to kick him in the head and face, stomping on him.

“He’s covered in bruises on his head and arms.

“He has shoe prints on him and his ear has been damaged, which we have to go back to the hospital for in a week if it is not healed.

“Thankfully nothing is broken, except his heart.”

It is claimed that there was another boy and two girls at the scene when it happened.

The assault was said to have taken place just outside of the gates of the park just near to the roadside between 4pm and 4.30pm on Monday.

Dawn added: “I just hope they find who did it.”

South Yorkshire Police are involved are enquiries are ongoing.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Police were called at 4.53pm on Monday afternoon with reports of an assault near to Retford Road Park.

“A 13 year-old-boy received medical treatment at the scene and was transported to hospital by his parents.

“Enquiries are underway.”
