Obviously bringing drugs and weapons to Tramlines will get you thrown out of Sheffield’s number one music festival.

But there are other less obvious things you can’t bring to the three-dayer at Hillsborough Park which begins on Friday.

And there are things you are actually advised to bring.

First of all, the banned stuff.

  • Attempting to bring in illegal substances , including weed, ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, poppers and ‘hippy crack’, will expedite your early and permanent removal from the festival. So will weapons .
  • Sharp objects , including your Swiss Army knife, and glass are prohibited too.
  • Gas canisters and barbecues aren’t permitted, nor are fireworks , flares or aerosols . Sorry, you can’t bring your Right Guard to stay fragrant.
  • Laser pens , or anything with a laser, isn’t allowed nor are golf umbrellas , flags and chairs .
  • Large bags ‘bigger than an A4 piece of paper’ aren’t allowed. Small bags measuring 210 x 297 x 200mm are permitted but you may be searched.
  • Animals, except for assistant dogs, aren’t permitted either.
  • Oh, and you can’t bring your own food or booze .

Now the stuff you should bring

  • Print off your e-ticket and have it ready to be scanned to speed up queues. You can have your ticket on your phone.
  • You’ll need proof that you haven’t got Covid. There’s more information on what you need here.
  • Bring photo ID. A photocopy is OK for getting in but you’ll need the real thing to buy alcoholic drinks.
  • Obviously, bring your phone and cash. Most bars will accept contactless payments but there are limited ATMs on the site.
  • A portable phone charger is advised as is suncream and sunglasses.
  • Also, bring a water bottle. There are water taps across the site to keep you hydrated in the heat.
