Police in South Yorkshire were called to deal with an awkward domestic fallout in the latest episode of 999: What’s Your Emergency?

In last night’s (Tues) instalment of the Channel 4 show, which follows the trials and tribulations of South Yorkshire Police, officers received a 999 call from a man who desperately announced: “I’ve got someone in my property that won’t leave – and it’s getting violent.”

Numerous units were shown rushing to the scene as the man who made the call admitted the person he wanted evicted from the home was his partner.

“She’s got a knife in her hand as well now. Please, hurry up,” he told the call handler.

After police arrived at the home, the man directed officers upstairs to his partner Carmen, who was in the couple’s bedroom.

When they reached the room, Carmen made the shocking revelation she had come home to find him in bed with a prostitute.

“I wanted to take his f****** head clean off, and hers,” Carmen told viewers of the show.

She was then escorted out of the house by police while her other half gave his version of events.

He told officers: “I’m here (as he pointed to the bed), and we’re all asking her to get out, yeah?

“She jumped onto the bed to come for me. I weren’t (sic) in danger of being stabbed, but…”

The man said the blade Carmen allegedly had hold of at the time was “only a few inches” long. Police then spotted a pair of scissors on the floor of the bedroom.

“It might have been scissors (Carmen had),” said the man.

The programme then cut to Carmen’s partner being interviewed for the Channel 4 show.

“I can see why she was upset,” he said. “Obviously, two working girls in the house with me, but there was another guy there as well.

“It was him that wanted the business. It was him that was paying the money. I didn’t do nowt wrong.”

After arriving at the police station, Carmen was distraught to find out she would not be out in time to celebrate her birthday the following day.

PC Laura Ledger admitted she “did have a little bit of sympathy for Carmen”.

“She’s obviously just had rest mist,” said PC Ledger. “She’s reacted to something that’s quite hurtful, but she’s still got to control that.

“Revenge is a natural, human feeling. But you’ve obviously got to be responsible for your actions. In the eyes of the law, it is not a defence to say: ‘He did this to me, so I’ve done this to him.’

“You have still got to deal with it as a crime.”

999:What’s Your Emergency? airs on Tuesdays at 9pm on Channel 4.
