Police are hunting for a Vauxhall Astra which they believe may be connected to the alleged murder of a loved Sheffield dad.

Ricky Collins, 31, died after he was stabbed outside a house in Westthorpe Road in Killamarsh on the night of Monday, March 29.

He was rushed to hospital but tragically could not be saved.

A murder investigation has been launched since his death and three men, one woman and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested in connection with his death.

Detectives are now searching to find a silver 09 plate Vauxhall Astra which they believe is connected to the case.

The car was captured on CCTV in the area of Westthorpe Road around the time of the attack on Mr Collins.

Police are hoping that someone may have seen a similar vehicle parked up in an unusual spot over the last few days, or seen a car like it dumped somewhere.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have been offered a silver Astra for sale since March 29.

Detective Inspector Chris Marriott, who is leading the investigation, said: “As part of our investigation, we need to find the Astra and I am urging anyone who might be able to help us, to get in touch now.

“I appreciate that silver Astras are very common. However, it may be that you’ve seen a car like it parked up near where you live or work – or perhaps you’ve seen one left in an unusual place, such as a country lane.

“This particular vehicle is linked to addresses in South Yorkshire.

“If that jogs your memory, and it doesn’t quite sit right, please call us. Your information could be of great assistance to our investigation.”

Two men aged 43 and 44 have been charged with assisting an offender.

A 16-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of murder last week, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
