A crowdfunding page has been launched towards the funeral of a young Sheffield father who sadly died in a horror crash on Easter Sunday.

Two men, Tyrone and Codeye, were earlier named locally as the pair who sadly died after the driver “lost control” of the white Volkswagen Golf car on the M1 leaving the northbound carriageway between J30 and 31 near Woodhall.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 7.30pm after reports of a car leaving the northbound carriageway between J30 and 31 near Woodhall.

South Yorkshire Police said no other car was involved but the vehicle hit a barrier and several trees before it came to a stop on its roof.

Both men, aged just 22 and 20, were pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A GoFundMe has since been launched to raise funds for Tyrone’s funeral to give him “the best send-off possible”.

It reads: “This is for Tyrone’s funeral, we want to raise some money towards it to get him the best send off possible!

“Everyone show a bit of love and affection for Ty and his baby boy, every little helps from penny’s to pounds, come and folks let’s get together for a good cause and good lad, least we can do since he would’ve done the same for us!”

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the crash.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Our Serious Collisions Unit is appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after two men were killed in a collision on the M1 on Sunday evening (4 April).

“At 7.29pm, a white Volkswagen Golf was travelling northbound on the M1 between Junction 30 and 31.

“The driver of the Golf is believed to have lost control, causing the car to leave the carriageway and collide with the barrier and several trees before coming to rest on its roof. Two men from Sheffield, aged 22 and 20, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

“We are asking any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who witnessed the Golf prior, to get in touch. We are especially keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage which captured the Golf travelling along the M1 between 7pm and 7.29pm.”

On Facebook, tributes have flooded in for the pair. One friend wrote: “RIP Codeye taken way too (sic) soon,” with another posting: “Lost for words. Too many great memories , RIP Codeye , 1 in a million. Rest easy up there.”

Call 101 quoting incident number 873 of April 4. Any footage can be emailed through to with the incident number listed in the subject line.
