Firefighters have been tackling a huge blaze at a Doncaster recycling plant for more than 10 hours.

Videos from the scene show thick smoke clouds rising from the area as nearby residents are urged to keep doors and windows closed.

Emergency services were called to Carr Hill, Balby, just before 10pm on April 5.

Eight fire engines and one aerial pump were initially dispatched, with crews still at the scene this morning trying to get the fire under control.

“For motorists also affected by the smoke, it is advised to close windows and air vents and to turn off air conditioning if safe to do so.”

Meanwhile, residents have been waking up wondering what the latest is, with many concerned about getting to work at Morrisons, which is next to the plant.

The manager of the Holiday Inn in Doncaster has also kindly offered the hotel as a place of refuge for the firefighters.
