Sheffield man charged in connection with stabbing of ‘funny, caring’ dad

A man has been charged in connection with the alleged murder of a loved Sheffield dad.

Ricky Collins, 31, was stabbed twice – once in the arm and once in the chest – outside a house in Westthorpe Road, Killamarsh, Derbyshire, on Monday night.

He was rushed to hospital but could not be saved and his death has prompted an outpouring of grief.

Police and ambulance crews had been called to Westthorpe Road at 10pm on Monday March 29 after reports that a man had been assaulted.

Ricky was found seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he tragically died.

Ricky was described as a “funny and caring” man who ran a successful business and doted on his son.

His best friend Willy Collins said that “Sheffield will not be the same without him”.

Derbyshire Police say that a 43-year-old man from Sheffield has been charged with assisting an offender in connection with the alleged murder.

The man appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning, where he was remanded into custody.

A 16-year-old boy also arrested in connection with his death has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The force are also reissuing their appeal for people with information to come forward.
