The M1 near Sheffield remains partially closed after a serious crash involving a car.
South Yorkshire Police closed the M1 on both the northbound and southbound carriageways between junction 30 and 31 after an accident at around 7.30pm yesterday evening.
Highways England described the closure as a “serious crash involving a car”.
Huge queues backed up along the motorway with motorists urged to avoid the area.

SYP Operations tweeted out to say: “The Roads Policing Group are currently responding to a serious incident on the M1 motorway along with other emergency service colleagues.
“It remains closed in both directions between junctions 30/31.
“Please avoid the area and do not join the network – plan alternative routes.”
The M1 was reopened this morning at around 6am but one lane remains closed between junction 30 and 31 on the northbound carriageway due to accident investigation work.
