Hundreds of protesters are expected to descend on Sheffield this afternoon for a Kill The Bill protest in the city centre.

It is one of over 30 protests planned for today, April 3, with a similar event also held in Leeds on Good Friday and in Sheffield last week.

The event is being held on Devonshire Green in the city from 1pm today in protest to The Police, Sentencing and Courts Bill.

Critics say it gives police undue powers in cracking down on peaceful protests, with forces allowed to dictate start and finish times and even noise levels of those involved.

Protests are also being held in Birmingham, Newcastle, Nottingham, Lincoln, York and many other cities across the UK.
